Desktop-down is the default mistake
Most mobile experiences aren’t designed — they’re the leftover result of shrinking a desktop layout until it technically fits. That’s why they feel cramped, over-cluttered, and slow to use.
Design for the thumb, not the cursor
Mobile interaction is physically different: fewer precise clicks, more scrolling, one hand doing the work. Touch targets, spacing, and navigation depth all need to be rethought for that reality, not just resized.
Prioritize ruthlessly
A small screen has no room for a desktop nav bar’s worth of choices. Mobile-first design forces a useful discipline: decide what actually matters on this page, and cut the rest.
Speed is part of the experience
Most mobile traffic happens on inconsistent networks. A visually mobile-friendly layout that loads slowly still loses the visitor it was designed for.
